Scott Strand, President, Director R & D
Captain Strand is the president of Great Circle Systems. Working with engineers, project managers, and captains, Scott developed and wrote Triton Administrator, a comprehensive data management program designed exclusively for superyachts. He also created the training program and more efficient, time- saving methods of data entry.

Scott founded GCS based on his extensive knowledge of onboard computers, increasing crew efficiency, and over ten years practical experience in the superyacht industry, from deckhand to captain. He has written and implemented custom programs for onboard management of numerous vessels over 50 meters, and has trained his fellow crew members in the use and versatility of the data systems available on today's modern yachts.

In addition to his experience on deck, Scott also gained valuable knowledge working with project managers in three complete refits and new builds at Feadship, Oceanco, Lurssen, Oceanfast, and Palmer Johnson. He has extensive knowledge of the Safety Management System requirements needed for ISM compliance, and is acknowledged as one of the industry's leaders in data entry and onboard networks.

 

Andrew Levy, CEO & Chief Technical Officer
Mr. Levy has over 24 years professional experience in software project management, software design and development, and network system integration. He has completed extensive research on mobile Internet satellite communications, and is a leader in the field of onboard marine networks.

Andy has exceptional breadth and depth of computer industry knowledge; spanning personal computer hardware and software, local and wide area networks, data modeling and database design, software engineering, and Internet/intranet technology.

 

Darren Mayhead, Sr. Field Applications Engineer
Mr. Mayhead is the former Chief Engineer for M/Y Cakewalk, and joined GCS in 2004.

Darren began his career with ten years in the British Royal Navy as an Engineer aboard Trafalgar Class nuclear powered fast attack submarines. After 10 years in Her Majesty’s Service, he entered the yachting industry as Chief Engineer aboard vessels ranging from 200 to 300 ft. He has been involved in numerous yard periods dealing with extended refits, new builds and has a thorough working knowledge of ISM and MCA requirements and standards.

Throughout his decade aboard yachts, Darren became more and more interested in the IT field as it began to play an ever increasing role in the modern yachts of today. He obtained his Systems Engineer credential from Microsoft, and moved ashore to work with GCS in 2004. In addition to understanding the unique needs of the Superyacht industry, he also has a wealth of experience in the design, installation, maintenance and integration of onboard marine networks and communications equipment. Darren also acts as consultant for large engine room refits.

 

Hernando Giraldo, Director of Business Development
Mr. Giraldo is the founder of IT Staffnet, Inc., and joined GCS in 2007 to man our Florida office.

Hernando has over 15 years experience in sales and business development, helping numerous companies in the IT industry grow, successfully selling and managing IT staffing and Internet software development. he has founded two start-up companies and been instrumental in massive sales increases and B-2-B development.

Hernando is an avid golfer and boater, with a degree in International Finance & Marketing from the University of Miami. He is fluent in Spanish and has travelled extensively through South America.
